How I capture weddings
What should you expect from me as your wedding photographer and how do I capture your wedding? I truly believe that you should be able to enjoy your wedding day without worrying about lots of posing for the camera. I believe your wedding should not feel like a photoshoot and the wedding photography should tell a story of your wedding, capturing those special moments that just happen naturally, without anything being posed/staged.
My wedding photography style is very relaxed, natural and discreet, reviews from couples often mention this. Most of the time people don’t even notice I’m there. Here is some information about how I capture wedding days and the work that goes on behind the scenes.
Getting ready / buildup
I like to photograph both the bride and the groom on the morning of the wedding. My day usually starts early with capturing the bride during her preparations. It’s always fun to capture and it’s great for both of you to see what the other was up to in those hours before you got married. If there’s more than a 20 minute distance between bride and groom, I recommend hiring one of my second photographers to join me to capture the guys, whilst I capture the girls.
The ceremony
I like to shoot weddings in a natural/un-posed storytelling style in the most non-intrusive way possible; capturing natural moments like below are what I’m always constantly striving to capture; nothing setup or staged.
Guests
The most important people in your lives are all in one place at the same time; it’s a totally unique occasion and always full of interactions to capture, little moments, the laughter, the tears. These are timeless images you’ll treasure forever.
Couple portraits
Capturing epic images of the two, natural and relaxed, using the most of scenery and natural light. Above all else I want couples to be relaxed and to be themselves and my engagement photography session really helps with this. Couple portraits usually take place over two windows on the day, usually shortly after the ceremony and in the evening, and they take approx 20 minutes as you don’t want to be away from your guests for too long.
Party time!
I don’t finish straight after first dance, no way! I’m a storyteller and this is the time when everyone lets their hair down, party time! I love to capture the party in full swing and stay at least 1 hour after the first dance.
Editing
I curate and hand edit all images myself, I never outsource as it’s something very personal to me and I pride myself on consistent high quality images. I send previews within the first week and the full collection is ready within 12 weeks.
