Do you offer a pre-wedding shoot?

Yes I offer a free engagement / pre-wedding photography shoot for all full day bookings and 50% off shorter day bookings within 30 mile radius of Falmouth. Outside this distance I add travel expenses. A pre-shoot is a great opportunity to get to know each other and be relaxed and natural in front of the camera where I'll offer tips. You also get to keep the edited photos of the two of you.

How would you describe your wedding photography style?

Storytelling; very relaxed, natural/unposed, leaving you and your guests to have fun and enjoy the day and I'll capture it all as it happens unobtrusively. Along with all the people that make your wedding day special, I love to photograph the little details that tell the whole story including the mood/atmosphere, flowers, letters, notes & gifts, food & drink, clothes, entertainment etc. You can read more about my wedding photography style

How do we book you?

Nice and simple, I send you a quick and easy online contract/booking form to fill in along with my bank details to pay the 25% deposit. Once received, that's me booked for you. The remaining balance will be due 1 month before you wedding day.

Do you photograph weddings outside of Cornwall?

90% of weddings I photograph are in Cornwall and Devon but I'm happy to travel so if you're getting married further afield then I'd love to hear about your wedding plans and tailor a wedding photography package to suit those plans. Get in touch to start the ball rolling.

Are you flexible on hours?

Yes I'm really flexible. A usual full day for me is 10-12 hours (90% of the time that's 10am until 10pm) and half day photography is 5 hours but I like to be flexible and happy to discuss timings to suit your day. Some couples may wish for wedding photography coverage that's more than 1 day or isn't quite a full day, but a half day maybe too little and this is absolutely fine; we can discuss  a wedding photography package that works for your wedding.

What is your favourite wedding location in Cornwall to photograph?

Here in Cornwall we're blessed with countless amazing opportunities for beautiful photographs on beaches or in the countryside, I really couldn't give my favourite Cornwall wedding location or venue as there are so many to choose from, you really are spoilt for choice. You'll see on my shire to shore blog some of the wedding venues in Cornwall I've photographed including The Green, Trevenna Barns, Port Eliot House, Pencarrow House, Prussia Cove to name just a few.

What do you like most about being a wedding photographer?

It's always an honour to be part of something so special, happy and unique as a wedding day. I love storytelling and capturing a wedding day story is always special, as are the kind words I receive from couples once they've received their wedding photographs and knowing those images will be treasured for years to come.

Can you recommend a wedding videographer?

Absolutely, I've worked with a handful of wedding videographers here in Cornwall that compliment my style of wedding photography who I can put you in touch with if you're interested in having a wedding videographer too.

Your style is unposed - but what about group/family shots?

Group/family photos are the only photos on the day that will require a certain amount of posing and looking into the camera. They can be fun too and they don't need to take long.

What if you can't make our wedding?

This is an important question to ask any wedding photographer, or any of your wedding suppliers in fact. What happens if I can't make your wedding for some reason such as illness? I'm lucky to be part of a small group of documentary wedding photographers in Cornwall and Devon who if the worst was to happen, would should be able to cover the wedding in my absence. Touch wood, I've never missed a wedding in five years, but it's always important to have a backup plan, just in case.

What if it rains?

2017 in Cornwall was one of the wettest wedding seasons I’ve experienced, but rain doesn't stop play and rarely does it rain all day so I always look to make the most of any dry spells. Rainy days should never dampen your spirit - get the umbrellas out and put on your welly boots and enjoy!

Perks of being a wedding photographer in beautiful Cornwall - never get tired of the scenery whether on the coast or in the country.

Do you take group photos?

Yes I do take group photos if you would like them but suggest these are kept to the minimum. If you want a few group shots such as the bridal party, a photo with everyone and maybe one or two with parents then I'm your man.  Couples who book me generally want me there to watch and capture what I see throughout the day, photographing it all naturally without influencing or setting the moments up. I truly believe that natural photos make the best wedding photos.

I always photograph wedding groups and these can be fun, classic posed, whatever floats your boat :)

How and when will we receive our wedding photos?

I know how exciting it is to await your wedding images and I always aim to get a few previews shared within 1 week of your wedding day to keep you going until the complete collection is ready (within 6 weeks with a small blog post uploaded shortly afterwards).  Photos uploaded to your online gallery first and then photos posted to your home address on USB along with 30 prints.

Can you help us create a wedding album?

A wedding album is not included in my package mainly because these days it's so incredibly easy to make a wedding album yourself online and make it personal to you. I can make recommendations for professional online wedding albums that you can create yourself or if you need any help then of course I'd be only happy to help.

How many photographs will I get?

With the full day coverage you will receive a minimum of 700 high resolution digital photographs, each individually edited in the style that you see on my website. With the shorter day coverage you will receive a minimum of 35o high resolution digital photographs.

How should we be/act in front of the camera?

Be yourselves. If you’re shy, be shy. If you can’t stop laughing, just laugh. I want to capture the real you, real moments, real emotions so just relax, enjoy and just ignore me; you'll notice the best wedding photographs very rarely have anyone looking directly at the camera.

Are you insured?

Wedding photography is an enormous responsibility and one I take very seriously. I'm fully insured with public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance.
