Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions I’ve been asked as a wedding photographer during the past six years.
Q: How do we get in touch with you to find out your availability to photograph our wedding?
A: Please get in touch with me using my online contact form here
Q: How do we book you?
A: Nice and simple, I send you my online contract/booking form to fill in along with my bank details to pay the 25% deposit. Once received, that's me booked for you. The remaining balance will be due 1 month before you wedding day.
Q: How would you describe your wedding photography style?
A: My wedding photography style is relaxed, candid/natural with storytelling at its heart; quietly and discretely capturing moments creatively that tell the story of your day, leaving you and your guests to simply enjoy it. Along with the people that make your day so special, I love to photograph the small details as well as the big details, the flowers, the food, the scenery, the entertainment, all the things that make your wedding unique to you.
Q: Do you offer an engagement / pre wedding shoot?
A: Yes I offer an engagement shoot in Cornwall - bonus is you get to keep the edited photos from the shoot.
Q: Do you photograph weddings outside of Cornwall?
A: 90% of weddings I photograph are in Cornwall and Devon but I'm happy to travel and can tailor a wedding photography package to suit your plans. I do work worldwide, so if you’re get married in some lovely destination wedding and don’t want to take the risk with the local photographer, let me know, I’d love to travel with you.
Q: Are you flexible on hours?
A: Yes, some couples may wish for photography coverage that's more than 1 day or isn't quite a full day, but a half day maybe too little and this is absolutely fine; I'm happy to tailor a wedding photography package that works for you.
Q: What is your favourite wedding location in Cornwall to photograph?
A: Here in Cornwall we're blessed with countless amazing opportunities for beautiful photographs on beaches or in the countryside, I really couldn't give my favourite Cornwall wedding location or venue as there are so many to choose from, you really are spoilt for choice. You'll see on my shire to shore blog some of the wedding venues in Cornwall I've photographed including Nancarrow Farm, The Green, Trevenna Barns, Pengenna Manor, Port Eliot House, Pencarrow House, Prussia Cove to name just a few.
Q: Are you insured?
A: Wedding photography is an enormous responsibility and as a professional wedding photographer, it’s one I take very seriously. I'm fully insured with public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance.
Q: How and when will we receive our wedding photos?
A: I know how exciting it is to await your wedding photos and I always aim to get a handful of teasers within 10 days of your wedding until the complete final collection is ready - in busy summer season this can be up to 6 weeks but the average time is 3-4 weeks with a small blog post uploaded shortly afterwards. Photos are uploaded to your online gallery first and then photos are posted to your home address on USB along with some prints.
Q: Do you take group photos?
A: Yes I do take group photos, you supply a list and I’ll make sure they’re captured.
Q: Can you recommend a wedding videographer?
A: Yes please check out my wedding videography page for more information about having a wedding film made in the same style that you see in this highlights video:
Q: What if it rains?
A: Rainy days or Cornish mizzle should never dampen your spirit; get the umbrellas out, welly boots on, enjoy!
Q: We like the relaxed, natural & unstaged photos but if you see a perfect photo opportunity, will you direct us?
A: Absolutely, I’m always looking for photo opportunities, especially with natural light.
Q: Can you help us create a wedding album?
A: A wedding album is not included in my package mainly because these days it's so incredibly easy to make a wedding album yourself online and make it personal to you. I can make recommendations for professional online wedding albums that you can create yourself or if you need any help then of course I'd be only happy to help.
Q: How many photographs will I get?
A: You will receive 600+ photos from a full day (the average from a full day is more like 750 edited photos). All photos are high resolution and provided on wooden USB + online gallery. Each photo is individually edited in my style and they are your photos to do as you wish.
Q: What do you do when we are eating?
A: I tend to eat somewhere quiet wherever that maybe and often take that time to backup photos and relax.
Q: How should we be in front of the camera?
A: Simply be yourselves; if you’re shy, be shy. If you can’t stop laughing, just laugh. You'll notice my wedding gallery has very few photographs with anyone looking directly at the camera - the engagement shoot helps with this.
Q: What do you like most about being a wedding photographer?
A: I love being a wedding photographer, naturally capturing the rollercoaster of moments and emotions that make wedding days so special and unique. Each wedding I have the honour of capturing is an adventure and story waiting to be told. I love being part of these adventures, whilst making new friends along the way.
