Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How would you describe your wedding photography style?

A: My wedding photography style is very much a natural documentary style which is relaxed, candid/unposed, leaving you and your guests to enjoy the day and I capture it all as it happens unobtrusively. Along with the people, I love to photograph the little details too that tell the story.

Q: Do you offer a pre-wedding shoot?

A: Yes I offer a engagement / pre-wedding photography shoot for full day wedding photography in Cornwall. You also get to keep the edited photos from the shoot.

Q: How do we book you?

A: Nice and simple, I send you a quick and easy online contract/booking form to fill in along with my bank details to pay the 25% deposit. Once received, that's me booked for you. The remaining balance will be due 1 month before you wedding day.

A: 90% of weddings I photograph are in Cornwall and Devon but I'm happy to travel and can tailor a wedding photography package to suit your plans.

Q: Are you flexible on hours?

A: Yes I'm really flexible. Some couples may wish for photography coverage that's more than 1 day or isn't quite a full day, but a half day maybe too little and this is absolutely fine; I'm happy to tailor a wedding photography package that works for you.

Q: What is your favourite wedding location in Cornwall to photograph?

A: Here in Cornwall we're blessed with countless amazing opportunities for beautiful photographs on beaches or in the countryside, I really couldn't give my favourite Cornwall wedding location or venue as there are so many to choose from, you really are spoilt for choice. You'll see on my shire to shore blog some of the wedding venues in Cornwall I've photographed including Nancarrow Farm, The Green, Trevenna Barns, Pengenna Manor, Port Eliot House, Pencarrow House, Prussia Cove to name just a few.

Q: How do we get in touch with you to find out your availability to photograph our wedding?

A: Please get in touch with me using my online contact form - alternatively you can email me directly here: mark@markshawphotography.co.uk

Q: What if you can't make our wedding?

A: This is an important question to ask any wedding photographer you speak to or any of your wedding suppliers in fact. What happens if we can't make your wedding day for some reason such as illness? For me, I'm lucky to be part of a small group of similar style documentary wedding photographers in Cornwall and Devon who if the worst was to happen should be able to cover your wedding in my absence. I have never needed to, but it's always good to have a plan B.

Q: Can you recommend a wedding videographer?

A: Yes I know just the man! Please check out my wedding videography page for more information about having a wedding film made in the same style you see in this video...

Q: What if it rains?

A: Rainy days or Cornish mizzle should never dampen your spirit, get the umbrellas out, welly boots on, enjoy!

Q: Do you take group photos?

A: Yes I do take group photos, you supply a list and I’ll make sure they’re captured.

I always photograph wedding groups and these can be fun, classic posed, whatever floats your boat :)

Q: How and when will we receive our wedding photos?

A: I know how exciting it is to await your wedding images and I always aim to get a few previews shared within a fortnight of your wedding day to keep you going until the complete collection is ready (within 8 weeks with a small blog post uploaded shortly afterwards).  Photos are uploaded to your online gallery first and then photos are posted to your home address on USB along with some prints.

Q: Can you help us create a wedding album?

A: A wedding album is not included in my package mainly because these days it's so incredibly easy to make a wedding album yourself online and make it personal to you. I can make recommendations for professional online wedding albums that you can create yourself or if you need any help then of course I'd be only happy to help.

Q: How many photographs will I get?

A: You will receive 350+ photos from half day and 700+ photos from a full day. All photos are high resolution and provided on wooden USB + online gallery. Each photo is individually edited in my style and they are your photos to do as you wish.

Q: How should we be/act in front of the camera?

A: Be yourselves and ignore the camera, hug, kiss, cuddle, hold hands, dance, whatever you like - but be yourselves. If you’re shy, be shy. If you can’t stop laughing, just laugh. I want to capture the real you so just relax enjoy and just ignore me. You'll notice my gallery has very few photographs with anyone looking directly at the camera.
